SuperPATH
SUPERPATH
WHAT IS SUPERPATH®?
SuperPATH® stands for Super capsular Percutaneously-Assisted Total Hip replacement, this procedure was designed by one of our surgeons to provide a total hip replacement procedure that’s much less invasive than traditional approaches. In this procedure, the hip implant is built in-place, and there is no dislocation of the hip, which is often necessary in other forms of total hip replacement. Also, SuperPATH® uses a 3-inch incision, special tools and specific surgical methods to reduce the number of muscles and other hip-supporting tissue that must be cut or damaged.
WHAT ARE SOME BENEFITS OFFERED BY SUPERPATH®?
Every person is slightly different, and this is often seen in our height, weight, body shape and other physical characteristics. These differences include factors that can cause problems in traditional total hip replacement surgery. However, with SuperPATH®, Phoenix Spine & Joint surgeons have more flexibility to ensure your hip replacement is successful. Aside from greater flexibility, SuperPATH® may also provide benefits such as:
- Less recovery time — patients are able to walk with little or no assistance only two hours after surgery is completed.
- Not having to avoid activities like crossing your legs or bending forward
- Near Zero risk of post-surgery hip dislocation
- Near zero risk of infection
- No age restriction
- Less postoperative pain
ARE THERE ANY RISKS WITH SUPERPATH® PROCEDURES?
Surgery is always a major undertaking that requires a lot of thought. This is because there’s a potential for risk with almost any form of surgery. The most common risks of hip replacement surgery are post-operative dislocation, infection, and blood clots. However, Phoenix Spine & Joint is proud to say we have a nearly zero percent infection, dislocation, and blood clot rates after our surgeries. While these risks are there, SuperPATH® is designed to minimize them, and surgeons at Phoenix Spine & Joint have a high level of experience and training in this procedure that drastically reduces these and other surgical risks.
