Dr. Rafath Baig is an orthopedic surgeon and spine surgeon who practices at Phoenix Spine and Joint in both Scottsdale and Goodyear locations. As a spine specialist Dr. Baig sees patient with back pain, neck pain, spinal stenosis, cervical radiculopathy, and lumbar radiculopathy. Dr. Baig treats patients with low back problems such as low back pain, spinal stenosis, and lumbar radiculopathy. When low back pain persists despite back pain remedies such low back exercises at home and other treatments that provide back pain relief then Dr. Baig may recommend lumbar facet injection. If lumbar facet injection provides temporary relief then Dr. Baig also performs lumbar radiofrequency ablation. For the treatment of spinal stenosis Dr. Baig recommends and performs lumbar laminectomy spine surgery. If your spinal stenosis is complicated by instability, then spinal fusion would be appropriate. If you have lumbar radiculopathy due to lumbar disc herniation then Dr. Baig recommends and performs lumbar microdiscectomy surgery.

If cervical facet injection provides temporary relief then Dr. Baig also performs cervical radiofrequency ablation. For the treatment of spinal stenosis Dr. Baig recommends and performs cervical laminectomy spine surgery. If you have cervical radiculopathy due to cervical disc herniation then you may need anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) or cervical microdiscectomy.
Dr. Baig was born & raised in Chicago, Illinois. He was brought up in a family held together by Old World values. Hard work, integrity & compassion have guided his journey as a healer & spine surgeon. His bedside manner is characterized by a humble candor & humor, but in the operating room, he is well known by the surgical team for his laser focus & exacting nature. Many of his patients come to him crippled by chronic pain, forced into dependency on narcotic pain medications.
